The Prospect
The Bruce Oake Recovery Centre is a 50 bed residential treatment Centre. We are recruiting a maintenance worker. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact and support successful life transformations of individuals experiencing addiction.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Respond to work orders, service requests, and on-call maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Regularly inspect the facility, equipment, building systems, and grounds to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and required repairs.
- Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the facility, including minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance tasks within the scope of the position.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, lawn care equipment, and other maintenance equipment required to complete assigned duties.
- Apply basic knowledge of HVAC systems to complete minor maintenance tasks, replace filters, identify potential concerns, and coordinate service when specialized repairs are required.
- Perform groundskeeping and seasonal property maintenance, including lawn care, snow removal, landscaping, litter removal, and maintaining exterior walkways and common areas.
- Complete interior and exterior painting, patching, touch-ups, and other minor finishing work as required.
- Coordinate repair and maintenance work with external vendors and skilled trades, provide access to the facility, monitor progress, and follow up to confirm that work has been completed to an acceptable standard.
- Support the overall cleanliness, appearance, and upkeep of the building and property. Clients may be responsible for designated chores; however,
areas not assigned to or maintained by clients or other staff will be the responsibility of the Facility Assistant.
- Maintain knowledge of the location and operation of all electrical, water, gas, and other utility shut-offs and respond appropriately during emergencies.
- Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, supplies, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Document completed work, outstanding repairs, inspections, and vendor service activity as required.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and promptly report hazards, damage, equipment failures, and other facility concerns.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills
- Experience in general maintenance.
- Knowledge and working experience in plumbing, electrical, brick, roofing, and mechanical systems
- Ability to lift 50lbs

The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
