PROGRAM: Outreach/Sexual Assault Response

REPORTS TO: Department Manager

HOURS OF WORK: 21 Hours per week

RATE OF PAY: $29.22 as per the Collective Agreement

CLOSING DATE: July 23, 2026

JOB SUMMARY:

The Crisis and Sexual Assault Worker will:

· respond to the specific needs of women who have experienced violence, abuse or threats and who are in need of support with supportive counselling, practical support, advocacy, referral and follow up

· provide local transportation, accompaniment and advocacy, as required

· provide public education and coordinate awareness activities around the issue of violence against women, sexualized violence and sexual consent

· respond to all victims of recent sexual assault who are in need of support through supportive counselling, advocacy, referral and follow up

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Crisis and Sexual Assault Worker will have:

· a diploma in Social Work or Public Administration

· one year recent, related experience

· experience in supervised settings in services to women and children who are victims of abuse, or

· an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

The Crisis and Sexual Assault Worker will require:

· an excellent understanding of family violence, the dynamics of sexual, emotional and physical abuse and family systems

· the ability to work with survivors of wife assault, sexual assault and emotional abuse

· an awareness of the criminal and civil justice systems

· familiarity with legislation that pertains to the target group

· excellent relationship skills with service recipients, staff, professionals and agency personnel

· knowledge of the community, its systems and resources

· the ability to work with people of diverse ages, cultures and personal situations

· the ability to prepare and produce a variety of reports

· the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team

· excellent communication skills

· a working knowledge of Excel, Word and email programs

· a valid driver’s license

· achievement and maintenance of Crisis Response Training, Suicide Prevention and Intervention Training, Diversity Training
