The Fatherhood Matters Program (Program) includes Tier 1 and Tier 2 parenting programs and services for fathers. The program recognizes that children and youth grow within the context of their family, culture, and community. The safety, development, and well-being of children and youth are best supported through holistic approaches that are community and family focused and involve fathers.

The program supports the enhancement of promotive and protective factors and the reduction of an/or mitigation of risk factors that impact fathers, their children, and families.

Tier 1 includes low-intensity generalized and universal programming to holistically address promotive, protective, and risk factors across the social determinants of health and creatively engage fathers. Activities can include group programs, workshops, social gatherings, drop in, advocacy, navigation, and creative engagement of priority populations.

Tier 2 includes medium-intensity programming to address complex needs that require focused interventions and approaches. These interventions are evidence-informed and are typically referral based, individualized and/or goal-based. In instances where the intervention is group-based, there remains a focus on a specific area(s) to be addressed, specific strategies to address these areas, and achievement of specific goals.
