Position Summary

Stronks Feedlot is looking for a motivated and dependable Beef Cattle Herdsperson to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with livestock, takes pride in animal welfare, and wants to be part of a team that values safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. This position will play a key role in monitoring cattle health, identifying animals requiring treatment, and ensuring the daily care and well-being of our livestock.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct daily pen checks to monitor cattle health and behaviour
- Identify sick, injured, or distressed animals and communicate findings promptly
- Move cattle safely and with low-stress handling techniques
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians, nutritionists, and other members of the operations team
- Administer animal health treatments under established protocols
- Maintain accurate treatment and health records using computer and mobile applications
- Monitor feed and water availability and report concerns
- Sort cattle for shipping and receiving
- Participate in processing, implanting, and other barn activities
- Daily cleanliness of waterers
- Complete general feedlot maintenance

Qualifications

- 2-5 years of related experience
- Post-Secondary education in a related field, an asset




- Strong understanding of cattle behaviour and animal welfare practices.
- Ability to identify signs of illness or injury in cattle.
- Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written).
- Experience operating equipment like skid steers and loaders.
- Basic math skills and a valid driver’s license
- Ability to learn and use feed and cattle management software on a phone/tablet and computer
- Ability to lift 50lbs/25 kg
- Ability to follow safety and quality protocols
- Dependable, punctual and able to work independently
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Time management and planning
- Interpersonal & communication skills in person, email, and text messaging
- Livestock experience (Microsoft and SSG Fusion knowledge is a plus)

Job Types: Full time, Permanent

Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
