APS is a well-established, family-owned business with its head office in Dartmouth, NS, and a branch location in Dieppe, New Brunswick. We have an immediate opening for a service technician to provide installation and service throughout Atlantic Canada, to a variety of equipment generally found in water and wastewater treatment plants and systems. This position is well suited to Industrial electricians, Millwrights or individuals possessing a wide skill set of mechanical and electrical knowledge.

Duties will include:

Field service activities:

- Controls and control wiring
- Problem Solving
- Start-up & commissioning
- Operator training
- Onsite technical services
- Minor plumbing

Scheduled maintenance and unplanned repairs to:

- Pumps
- Valves
- UV Systems
- Instrumentation
- Electrical panels and controls
- Compressors

APS supplies a variety of equipment and instrumentation including pumps, valves, water & wastewater treatment systems and more within Atlantic Canada. We offer installation assistance, commissioning, start-up and maintenance services - our Service Technicians are essential members of our team. Service Technicians provide installation/start-up services, perform tasks as suggested by manufacturer’s preventive maintenance schedules, as well as assess and complete unscheduled/emergency repairs to equipment as needed, all the while ensuring that our customers’ expectations are met.

Job requirements include, but are not limited, to the following:

- Ability to work independently;
- Assess and troubleshoot equipment using printed and/or online materials as available;
- Conduct repairs, overhauls, rebuilds and perform preventative maintenance;
- Preparation and submission of all service department paperwork including forms, reports, etc.;
- Identification of revenue generating opportunities for the service department;
- Maintaining all company property and work areas in an orderly fashion.

- Be highly organized and proactive in prioritizing and scheduling of workload;

- Have a valid driver’s license and be available for overnight travel periodically in Atlantic Canada to job sites or customer locations, and occasionally to North American manufacturer locations for training;
- Realize the necessity to be adaptable and co-operative, to ensure overall success;
- Be capable of establishing positive working relationships with co-workers that effectively enhance the team environment;
- Provide a clean criminal background check and driving abstract.

Computer Proficiency

- MS Windows platform using MS Office Suite (Particularly MS Outlook, Word, Excel)

Education/training/previous experience:

- Strong hands-on mechanical background is an asset;
- Individuals with suitable experience and/or formal training (millwright/mechanic/electrician) will be considered.
- Previous field experience required.
