Job Description
Eskimo Point Lumber Supply is currently looking for a Journeyman Automotive Mechanic to join their Maintenance and Services team in Arviat/ Rankin Inlet, Nunavut.

This position is responsible for all automotive mechanical services including but not limited to diagnosing, repairing, adjusting and replacing all related components to vehicles. As well, you will be reviewing work orders and discussing accurate repair procedures with the Manager.

The qualified applicant should have strong customer service skills with the ability to properly communicate the repairs performed either written or verbally, to shop foreman and customers. The applicant must also have a willingness to work overtime when needed, and a positive attitude to getting the job done.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
- Inspecting vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade
- Conducting routine maintenance work aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity
- Test and adjust units to specifications
- Perform accurate parts and labour estimates
- Complete work orders and record problems and work performed
- Keep shop equipment in good operating condition
- Road test vehicles
- Provide expertise and technical support to Manager
- Obtain quoting using Identifx and act as back-up for approvals in Manager’s absence
- Request for parts and coordinate issuing POs
- Provide excellent customer service




- Other duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

- Red Seal Certification with minimum of 3-5 years of experience
- Dealership experience is an asset
- Strong diagnostic capabilities with modern tools on modern vehicles
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be flexible with good judgement
- Must demonstrate a professional and positive demeanour
- Strong client focus with demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service
- Must have a strong work ethic, be reliable with a positive team attitude
- Good communication skills both verbal and written
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work performed
- Ability to maintain high levels of efficiency and proficiency
- Valid driver’s license and valuable driving record
- Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
