Eskimo Point Lumber Supply is currently looking for an Assistant Hotel Manager, Permanent Relocation to Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, to join their team
The Assistant Hotel Manager (Housekeeping Focus) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department while supporting the overall management of hotel operations. This role ensures exceptional cleanliness, guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and compliance with hotel standards. The Assistant Hotel Manager works closely with the Hotel Manager and other department leaders to maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping Operations
- Supervise the daily operations of the housekeeping department, including room attendants, laundry staff, and public area attendants.
- Ensure all guest rooms, suites, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meet established cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and common areas to ensure quality and consistency.
- Monitor room readiness and coordinate with the front desk to optimize room availability.
- Develop and maintain housekeeping schedules based on occupancy levels and operational needs.
- Ensure adequate inventory of linens, amenities, cleaning supplies, and equipment.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance by reporting maintenance issues promptly and following up to completion.
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate housekeeping team members.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and productive work environment.
- Monitor employee performance and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and service standards.
- Assist with scheduling, payroll review, and attendance management.
Guest Service
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and housekeeping-related concerns.
- Resolve guest complaints with a focus on exceeding expectations.
- Collaborate with front office and maintenance teams to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Promote a culture of exceptional customer service throughout the housekeeping team.
Operational Support
- Assist the Hotel Manager in overseeing daily hotel operations.
- Support other departments during peak periods as needed.
- Participate in budgeting and cost-control initiatives related to housekeeping operations.
- Monitor labor costs, supply usage, and departmental productivity.
- Assist with hotel inspections, audits, and compliance requirements.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and workplace regulations.
- Maintain proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Conduct safety training and promote safe work practices.
- Ensure adherence to brand standards and local regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2–5 years of hotel housekeeping experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Previous experience in hotel operations or management is an asset.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel property management systems (PMS).
- Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a rapid-paced environment.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Valid driver’s license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 per year
