Practice Details:

The Sorrento and Area Community Health Centre Society (SACHCS) is looking for a Family Physician to join our full time Nurse Practitioner. The FFS Physician can share office space and overhead with the NP or establish their own office within the same building. The NP salary and advantages are paid by Interior Health. If desired, this is an opportunity to create a collaborative practice with an experienced NP.
The Community Health Centre is located in the centre of Sorrento above the only Pharmacy in the area. Allied health professionals such as a Physiotherapist, Chiropractor, Naturopath, and Dentist are located within a short distance of the Health Centre.
Hospital privileges would be available at The Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm which is a 25 minute drive east of Sorrento. Tertiary referral hospitals are located in Kamloops and Kelowna. The community of Chase, which is located 20 minutes to the West, has a Physician, an NP, Laboratory and Xray services, plus a limited hours ERD.
Obstetrics and ER duties are not required but can be arranged if desired.

For those interested, there may be opportunities to do outreach, locums or other short-term work within other Interior Health Communities.

Qualifications:





- Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)
- Doctorate in Medicine
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) mandatory; Provisional Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License; Any of the following would be an asset: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) desired; Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) desired; Emergency Experience desired; Obstetric Experience desired; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PAL) desired; Surgical Skills desired;

On call requirements: Shared call with Salmon Arm Physicians can be arranged if desired. This would mean the occasional weekend coverage for hospital patients and the occasional weekday after hours availability by phone for in patient concerns.
