Position Overview

Diligent Construction Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Junior / Intermediate Estimator to support our estimating and procurement teams.

The successful candidate will have general contracting experience and be comfortable reviewing drawings, completing quantity takeoffs, obtaining trade pricing, and coordinating tender submissions.

This position reports to the Chief Estimator, Senior Estimator, and Procurement Manager.

Key Responsibilities

- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents.
- Complete quantity takeoffs for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Prepare and issue tender invitations to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Follow up with trades to confirm participation and ensure adequate bid coverage.
- Review quotations for scope, exclusions, qualifications, and completeness.
- Prepare bid comparison and bid-leveling sheets.
- Identify scope gaps, overlaps, risks, and missing information.
- Assist with conceptual, Class D, Class C, and detailed estimates.
- Maintain tender calendars, bid lists, quotation logs, and project files.
- Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and tender meetings when required.
- Assist with tender closings, project buyout, and handover to the project team.
- Support subcontractor prequalification, procurement, and long-lead item tracking.

Qualifications





- Minimum 2 years of construction estimating experience with a general contractor.
- ICI construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
- Experience completing quantity takeoffs and reviewing subcontractor quotations.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, trade divisions, and tendering procedures.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PDF software.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, PlanSwift, BuildingConnected, or similar software is an asset.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines.
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is preferred.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable transportation are assets.

Pay: $42,047.08-$115,402.91 per year
