It is a designated school facility that is open beyond the traditional school schedule to offer a variety of community learning and recreational opportunities to people of all ages. Community schools are multi-service facilities working in partnership with other community agencies, organizations and individuals to improve the quality of life in the community.

Our Community school will be running classes out of SD34 Abbotsford School sites such as (but not limited to):

- Harry Sayers Elementary
- Dave Kandal Elementary
- Auguston Elementary

To enrich the lives of the people in our community by offering a wide range of cultural, recreational, and educational programs and opportunities.

We are currently hiring After School Program Instructors and Evening Program Instructors. Successful candidates will be required to work 2 hours shifts from 2pm - 5pm (afternoon shift) and/or from 5:45pm - 7:45pm (evening shift).

Applicants will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check. Current First Aid is an asset.



Compensation is based on experience and programs that are being led. Compensation for successful applicants is $19 per hour for this program.

Art Instructor Responsibilities:

- Planning lessons on art and art history in accordance with the Schools and/or Principals request for specific learning objectives.
- Lesson plan for the program (each program is typically 6 weeks in length, once a week).
- For lesson planning purposes, instructors MUST be proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Canva for creating lesson templates and planning engaging activities.
- Preparing the classroom by gathering and setting up equipment.
- Developing students' drawing, coloring, and painting techniques.
- Providing instruction on the use of media such as graphite and charcoal pencils, as well as oil, acrylic, and watercolor paint.
- Teaching students about art history.
- Communicating weekly with the Program Coordinator on program & student feedback.
- Ensuring that the classroom is clean after each lesson.
- Monitoring inventory and sourcing art supplies, as needed.

Art Instructor Requirements:

- Attending University currently or has a Bachelor's degree in fine arts with teaching qualification, or equivalent.
- Prior experience as an art teacher.
- Demonstrates excellence in a variety of art techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Capacity to supervise group work.
- Outstanding planning and problem-solving skills.
- Supportive, flexible disposition.
- Available to work during afterschool and evenings, depending on the school location.
- Excellent organization skills.




- Experience working with children.
