WORLD-CLASS DESIGN. MODERN MANUFACTURING Automation & CNC Programmer
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
$50,000 – $75,000/year (based on experience and credentials)
At RMD, our purpose is simple: Drive change to make the world better.
Our niche is even more unique: We build what isn’t there in the One Health space; supporting environmental, human, and animal innovation. That means the automated systems, programs, and machinery you build and maintain contribute to solutions that don’t yet exist; new technology, new systems, new impact.
As our company evolves, so does our manufacturing approach.
Where We’re Headed:
RMD is transitioning from a traditional job shop model to a more structured, production-focused manufacturing setting. That includes:
● Stronger process discipline and greater efficiency.
● Investment in advanced CNC equipment, industrial robotics, and emerging manufacturing technology.
● Implementation of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) to strengthen accountability, communication, and execution. This creates clear roles, expectations, and opportunities for growth as the company scales.
We are looking for an Automation & CNC Programmer who is ready to dive in hands-on, master cutting-edge automation, and keep our modern production floor running at peak performance.
Who We Are:
RMD is a Saskatchewan-owned, fully integrated engineering and manufacturing company serving industrial automation, advanced manufacturing, research, and resource development sectors. Our Saskatoon facility houses high-end CNC technology and custom automated systems entering commercialization after years of R&D.; We’re not just making parts, we’re scaling innovation.
Our values guide everything we do (RUTID):
● Respect – We treat people right
● Unity – We win as a team
● Trust – We do what we say
● Integrity – We do the right thing
● Drive – We push forward The Opportunity:
We are seeking a hands-on,
highly technical Automation & CNC Programmer to take ownership of our advanced manufacturing equipment and programming workflows. The primary goal of this role is to act as a dedicated specialist for programming, servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated machinery directly on the shop floor; maximizing equipment uptime and allowing senior technical staff to focus on high-value engineering initiatives.
This is an active, hands-on position for someone who thrives on solving complex technical puzzles, working directly with robotics and advanced CNC machinery, and ensuring high standards of technical documentation and process discipline.
Core Responsibilities:
● Programming & Setups: Perform G-code, FANUC, and industrial robot programming (including teach pendants) across CNC mills, robotic welding equipment, CNC machinery, and automated production cells.
● Hands-On Troubleshooting: Independently troubleshoot production equipment, diagnose faults, and resolve software, programming, or computer-related issues directly on the floor.
● System & Software Support: Support internally developed software and automated systems, utilizing Git and software version control where applicable.
● Process Documentation: Maintain detailed logs, write precise technical records, and ensure full accountability for all code changes, program revisions, troubleshooting steps, and completed work.
● Collaborative Support: Work closely with cross-functional technical teams and production operators to streamline equipment operations and improve cell efficiency.
You’ll Thrive Here If You:
● Love a Technical Challenge: You naturally enjoy being challenged at work, getting your hands dirty on machinery, and overcoming complex technical obstacles.
● Are an Independent Problem Solver: You can diagnose machine or code faults independently without needing step-by-step guidance.
● Are Detail-Oriented & Accountable: You take pride in neat code, clear documentation, and keeping organized records of equipment modifications and program changes.
● Are Collaborative & Adaptable: You communicate effectively with shop personnel and technical specialists alike, bringing a positive, continuous-improvement mindset to every task.
Qualifications & Requirements:
● Education & Credentials: A recognized technical trade, diploma, technology credential (e.g., Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology), or university degree is required.
● Experience: 2 or more years of relevant hands-on experience in automated manufacturing, CNC programming, or equipment maintenance.
● Technical Asset: Experience with PLC programming is a major asset. However, candidates with the right core technical background, mechanical aptitude, and drive to learn will be considered and trained.
● Technical Familiarity:
○ Proficiency or familiarity with G-code, FANUC controls, industrial robotics/teach pendants, and CNC mills.
○ Familiarity with software version control (Git) and computer/software troubleshooting on production machinery.
Safety Is Our #1 Priority:
You will receive proper training before undertaking any task, have access to required PPE, and always have the right to refuse unsafe work. We strictly follow health, safety, and quality standards to ensure everyone goes home safe.
