The Fickle Fig at YYJ is looking for professional and dedicated team players with outstanding customer service skills to join our expanding team. We are looking for individuals with Barista/café experience and availability to work 5 days each week.

This is a unique local business located within the Victoria International Airport where customers are treated to a farm to table experience through a rotating daily/weekly menu, with the freshest ingredients, highlighting local ingredients from farmland around the Saanich peninsula.

You will be responsible for providing prompt, friendly, customer service in our fast-paced café & bakery kiosk at YYJ. As a key holder, you will be responsible for our closing shifts from 9:30am - 5:30pm, with set shifts. The ideal candidate would be available a combination of weekdays or weekend availability, but open to offering just weekday shifts.

Responsibilities include - Serving customers, preparing drinks, daily cleaning tasks, key holding closing and cash out shifts. We are open until 5pm daily. Additionally, airport specific training and development online training courses are paid, and need to be completed within 3 months of start.

Skills and experience required:

-Previous experience with barista duties an asset but will train the right person.

-Be friendly and outgoing.





-Be reliable and have excellent interpersonal skills with co-workers and customers.

-Be passionate and knowledgeable about the products.

-Have a positive personality with the ability to work under pressure.

-Previous experience with Point Of Sale system required.

-Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask.

-Must be able to anticipate customer and team needs and show initiative.

-Be able to work independently.

-Have an efficient work ethic.

-Be willing and eager to learn, asking questions when unsure.

-Be able to manage cash and balance daily deposits.

-Have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

-Be a problem solver and use their initiative.

Successful candidates must complete a paid probationary period of three months. Valid food safe certificate required, or willingness to procure one.
