Role Title: C# Trading Systems Developer

Contract duration: 6 Months (Possible extension and conversion)

Working hours: 9am-5pm ET, flexible if contractor is located in other time zones

Office location: Toronto ON (2x/week, open to remote)

Role Mandate

Drive the development and enhancement of business-critical components within the Global Trading Solutions Electronic FX (EFX) Trading Platform, ensuring seamless integration for the distribution of market data and electronic trade flows. Develop and maintain low-latency trading systems using C# .NET, contributing to the performance, scalability, and reliability of the platform. Lead and support the migration of backend utility services from vendor-supported solutions to in-house systems, reducing external dependencies and improving operational control.

Partner with stakeholders across the EFX portfolio, which spans 5–10 applications, to plan, coordinate, and execute migration activities while ensuring business continuity and alignment with evolving trading and technology requirements.

Team Structure

The team consists of seven members and primarily operates independently, with an approximate 70/30 split between independent work and work involving collaboration on shared initiatives, integrations, and cross-application projects.

Role Responsibilities

- Design & develop robust software solutions for GTS’s trading systems




- Devise recent algorithms and data structures for target environment and platform attributes in alignment with architectural patterns
- Create thorough test cases to ensure software stability and reliability
- Collaborate with other teams to research and implement changes to the trading system
- Communicate with operations teams about new features and existing strategy behaviors
- Support production issues, including independently completing root-cause analysis and diagnosis.
- Process various business requirements with minimal guidance, derive implementation proposals, and execute proposals with a team or individually.
- Mentor junior developers

Must Have Skills

- 7+ years of professional C# .NET development experience
- Strong technical expertise is required for this role, including experience with optimizing software performance and reducing latency
- Familiar with the FIX protocol
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; eager to ask questions; able to clearly explain ideas
- Strong team-oriented and team skills
- Strong multi-threaded programming skills
- Strong understanding of financial markets and electronic trading systems

Nice to Have Skills

- BA/BS degree in Computer Science
- Familiar with Broadway FX
- Familiar with Java
- Former FI/client experience

Interviews

3 rounds, 1 hr each. The first will be screening with the HM while rounds 2 and 3 will be skills based (coding and communication of technical concepts) with the HM and team members.
