Our client, a well-established manufacturing organization in the Oakville area, is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a purchasing professional who enjoys strategic sourcing, supplier management, and working with key manufacturing commodities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage an annual purchasing spend exceeding $5 million.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery.
- Purchase key manufacturing commodities, with a strong focus on cold rolled and hot rolled steel.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while identifying recent sourcing opportunities.
- Analyze purchasing trends and identify cost-saving initiatives.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Operations to support manufacturing requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing data and support continuous process improvements using ERP/MRP systems.
- Monitor supplier performance and assist with vendor development initiatives.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.




- Experience managing an annual purchasing spend of $5 million or more.
- Robust purchasing experience with cold rolled and hot rolled steel.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
