SUMMARY
The CAD Technician is responsible for supporting product design, reverse engineering and drawing creation. The Ideal candidate will be well versed in SolidWorks, have experience in design for manufacturing, and have a solid foundation of drawing best practices and standards. Experience using a CMM with MCOSMOS software and an interest in automotive products and applications is an asset.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
- Working with SolidWorks to create 3D models and drawings of reverse Engineered products as well as new designs.
- PDM Vault Utilization
- Competent in use of measuring tools e.g. Vernier calipers, micrometers etc.
- Ensure all drawings are completed to industry (ASME Y14.5) and internal standards.
- Checking that drawings are fit for best manufacturing processes.
- Working within the drawing database.
- Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation and BOMs (Using PDM and other software)
- Ability to receive and execute instructions with minimal supervision
- Participate in design reviews/able to multitask
EDUCATION: Diploma in Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
WORK WORKPLACE: Office
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to interact in an office setting with some standing and walking.
EXPERIENCE:
Min 3 years working with CAD models and drawings.
TRAINING
SKILLS
- Proficient in SolidWorks
- Proficient in Microsoft office
- 3 years of CAD/drawing experience
- Experience in checking detailed manufacturing drawings
- Interpreting and implementing GD&T; & Tolerance Stack up
- Knowledge of designing for various manufacturing techniques; casting, welding, sheet metal, etc.
- Flexibility in supporting other functions and projects as the need arises
- Proficient in report writing and technical documentation.
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Knowledge in the design and development of automotive applications
- Experience with using a CMM/MCOSMOS and other measurement tools
- Knowledge of 3D Scanner/Printer is an asset
- Experience working under a quality management system
- Organized & attention to detail

- Problem Solving (interact with other departments)
- Able to work with dxf / imported files
Pay: $52,000.00-$56,000.00 per year
Experience
- CAD Models Drawings: 3 years (preferred)
- SolidWorks: 1 year (preferred)
- Microsoft Excel: 1 year (preferred)
