As we continue to grow, we are seeking a passionate Casa Montessori Teacher to join our team and inspire our youngest learners during one of the most important stages of their development.
Position Summary The Casa Montessori Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining an authentic Montessori classroom that nurtures each child's academic, social, emotional, and physical development.
The successful candidate will foster independence, curiosity, confidence, and respect while guiding children through purposeful Montessori work in a calm, engaging, and child-centred environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain a beautiful, organized, and authentic Montessori Casa classroom.
- Plan and deliver engaging Montessori lessons across all curriculum areas, including Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, Cultural Studies, and Science.
- Observe each child's development and prepare individualized lessons to meet their unique needs.
- Maintain accurate student records, including observations, lesson planning, and progress documentation.
- Foster independence, concentration, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
- Create a respectful, inclusive,
and nurturing classroom community.
- Support children's social and emotional development through positive guidance and Montessori principles.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student development and classroom activities.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and collaborative planning.
- Supervise students during outdoor play, field trips, and other school activities.
- Support the mission, vision, and values of Guelph Montessori School.
QualificationsRequired
- MACTE, AMI, or equivalent Casa Montessori Diploma.
- Experience teaching in a Montessori Casa classroom.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of child development and Montessori philosophy.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certification (or willingness to obtain before employment).
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain before employment).
Preferred
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Bachelor's Degree, Early Childhood Education Diploma, or a related educational background.
- RECE registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation.
- Experience working in an independent Montessori school.
