Our client, a well-established Tier 1 automotive supplier located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) , is seeking an experienced Coatings Engineer to join its Engineering team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about coating technologies, process optimization, and continuous improvement within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing
? Lead initiatives to improve coating performance, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
? Develop, validate, and optimize coating processes for automotive components, ensuring consistent production results.
? Evaluate new coating materials, chemical formulations, and application methods through testing and analysis.
? Monitor and support electrocoating (E-Coat), powder coating, and related finishing processes to maximize quality and reliability.
? Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve technical issues and implement long-term process improvements.
? Analyze production data, identify process trends, and recommend corrective actions to improve throughput and reduce defects.
? Support product launches, process validation activities, and continuous improvement projects.
? Develop and maintain process documentation, operating standards, and quality procedures while ensuring compliance with automotive industry requirements.
? Provide technical guidance to laboratory personnel and support testing activities related to coating performance and process control.
? Ensure manufacturing processes comply with environmental, health & safety, and quality standards.
What We're Looking For
✅ Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
✅ 3–5+ years of experience working with industrial coating systems within a manufacturing environment.
✅ Previous experience with E-Coat, powder coating, paint systems, or surface finishing technologies is highly preferred.
✅ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
✅ Experience leading process improvement and manufacturing optimization projects.
✅ Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
✅ Strong organizational and time management abilities.
✅ Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
✅ Experience interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models is considered an asset.
