Contract Electronics / RF Engineering & Test Specialist

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Employment Type: Contract

Initial Term: 4–6 months, with potential for extension

Start Date: ASAP

Salary Range: 96-115K/year About the Role We are seeking a hands-on Electronics/RF Engineering & Test Specialist to support the manufacturing, testing, troubleshooting, qualification, and engineering development of a high precision scientific instrumentation product. This is a hybrid engineering and hands-on technical role. While a significant portion of the work will involve physically assembling and testing equipment, the successful candidate will also be expected to take ownership of more technically challenging troubleshooting, engineering validation, RF/electrical characterization, and qualification activities.

The product is well established and supported by existing engineering documentation, but there are opportunities to improve manufacturing processes and close documentation gaps. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable moving between engineering documentation, laboratory test equipment, physical assembly, and problem solving. This position would be well suited to an Electrical/Electronics Engineer, RF Engineer, Electronics Technologist, RF Technologist, or experienced electronics test professional who enjoys hands-on work.

Responsibilities Manufacturing & System Assembly Assemble and integrate complex electronic and electrical systems and subassemblies.

Install PCBs, electrical assemblies, connectors, wiring, and cable harnesses.

Perform cable preparation, crimping, soldering, and electrical rework as required.

Build engineering and production units according to released documentation.

Troubleshoot assembly and integration issues during manufacturing.

Identify discrepancies or deficiencies in engineering and manufacturing documentation. Electronics & RF Testing Develop and execute electrical and RF test procedures.

Perform board-level and system-level testing.

Use oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, multimeters, and other laboratory instrumentation.

Troubleshoot electrical and RF performance issues.

Characterize circuits and assemblies and compare measured performance against design requirements.

Support root-cause investigations of failures encountered during manufacturing and testing.

Engineering

Validation & Qualification Support design verification testing (DVT) of new and modified assemblies.

Assist with qualification of engineering changes prior to production release.

Prepare equipment, fixtures, cables, documentation, and test plans for external EMC/emissions testing.

Participate in emissions testing and troubleshoot issues identified during qualification.

Generate clear test records and technical reports.

Work with engineering personnel to identify and resolve design or manufacturing issues.

Manufacturing Process Development

Help convert engineering designs into repeatable manufacturing processes.

Develop and improve assembly, test, and troubleshooting procedures.

Identify opportunities for fixtures, tooling, automation, or process improvements.

Capture manufacturing knowledge and convert it into useful documentation.

Provide engineering feedback on manufacturability, testability, and reliability.

Qualifications Required Degree, diploma, or significant practical experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering,

RF Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.

Strong hands-on electronics experience.

Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.

Experience using laboratory electronic test equipment.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Comfortable performing hands-on assembly, wiring, soldering, and rework.

Ability to work independently in a laboratory/manufacturing setting.

Preferred Experience with RF electronics, RF test equipment, or high-frequency circuits.

Experience with network analyzers or spectrum analyzers.

Experience with EMC/EMI or regulatory emissions testing.

Experience with design verification testing or engineering qualification.

Experience with complex scientific, industrial, aerospace, telecommunications, medical, or other high-performance electronic systems.

Experience with cable/harness design or fabrication.

PCB-level troubleshooting and rework experience.

Experience developing test fixtures or automated test systems.

Experience transitioning engineering designs into manufacturing.

What We Are Looking For We are looking for an engineer or senior technologist who is comfortable getting their hands dirty.

This is not a purely desk-based engineering position. You may spend part of a day assembling a cable harness, another part troubleshooting a PCB with an oscilloscope, and another preparing an instrument for EMC testing. The ideal candidate combines strong technical fundamentals with practical manufacturing instincts. You should be comfortable taking an ambiguous technical problem, making measurements, forming hypotheses, and working systematically toward a solution.

You should also enjoy working in an environment where the product is sophisticated and well engineered, but where not every manufacturing detail has yet been perfectly documented.

Contract Opportunity

This is an initial 4–6 month contract supporting a significant manufacturing, qualification, and engineering effort, with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements.

The role provides exposure to complex scientific instrumentation spanning electronics manufacturing, RF systems, system integration, engineering validation, and regulatory qualification.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About Nanalysis Corp.

Nanalysis Scientific

Corp. is a public company (TSXV:NSCI, FRA:1N1, USA:OTC:NSCIF). The company is a global manufacturer and seller of compact Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy products. The Nanalysis 60 MHz was the first portable, high-resolution 60 MHz benchtop NMR spectrometer released in the market in 2013.

These instruments are notable for their ease of use, low-maintenance, accessibility, affordability and automatability. In 2019, Nanalysis introduced the 100 MHz spectrometer, representing the highest resolution instrument available on the market. Designed with flexibility in mind,

the instruments can be configured as traditional NMR spectrometers or programmed as analyzers for specific industrial applications (oil and gas, chemical, pharma, biotech, food science, atomic agencies, cannabis, mining).

Nanalysis' benchtop NMR technology has been widely recognized, including being named Company of the Year in Global Portable NMR in the prestigious Frost & Sullivan award for three consecutive years. In 2020 Nanalysis expanded its portfolio of magnetic resonance technology acquiring RS2D and their superior Cam4™ technology offering their high-field NMR Pulse™console (200-600 MHz), preclinical MRI and MR product line. RS2D, founded in 2004, specializes in the design and manufacture of a suite of magnetic resonance products powered by the versatile Cam4™ which will soon power all our spectrometers, including MRI consoles and the Pulse™ NMR console suitable for 200-600 MHz instruments.
