Group Controller | Build the Finance Function of Tomorrow

About the Role Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer , the Controller will lead the controllership function across multiple operating businesses while serving as the financial steward for an expanding organization.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role responsible for financial reporting, project accounting, process improvement, ERP optimization, and supporting executive decision-making.

You'll collaborate closely with finance, operations,



and project leadership while helping modernize accounting processes through automation and AI.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead Financial Operations

- Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across multiple entities.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, management reporting, dashboards, and key performance metrics.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
- Coordinate external audits and tax compliance.

Drive Technology & Process Improvement

- Become the internal expert and champion for the organization's newly implemented cloud ERP.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting processes.
- Help introduce AI solutions that improve efficiency and reduce repetitive work.
- Continuously improve reporting accuracy, workflows, and financial controls.

Support Construction & Development Operations

- Oversee project costing, work-in-progress accounting, progress billings, and holdbacks.
- Partner with Project Managers to monitor profitability and project performance.
- Support accounting for major residential and commercial development projects.
- Ensure accurate capitalization of project costs and inventory.

Strengthen Financial Controls

- Manage multi-entity accounting, consolidations, and intercompany transactions.
- Oversee reconciliations, fixed assets, inventory, financing, payroll integrations, and indirect tax reporting.
- Maintain accurate financial data and ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards.

Be a Strategic Business Partner

- Work directly with senior leaders and decision makers on financial planning and strategic initiatives.
- Support acquisitions, integrations,



and other special projects.
- Provide meaningful financial insights that help drive business decisions.

What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who combines technical accounting expertise with business curiosity and a desire to continuously improve.

You bring

- CPA designation (or equivalent) preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience managing month-end close and financial reporting
- Strong understanding of multi-entity accounting and consolidations
- ERP experience and enthusiasm for technology
- Construction, manufacturing, development, or project-based accounting experience is highly valued
- Financial modelling and analytical capabilities
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to partner with senior leadership
- An interest in AI, automation, and modern finance practices
