Are you someone who loves to cook and wants to make a difference in the lives of young children? Lux Daycare & O.S.C. is looking for a reliable and organized Daycare Chef to join our center.

This is the perfect role for someone who is great in the kitchen, values a consistent weekday schedule, and wants to be part of a supportive team. You don't need to be a "Executive Chef" - you just need to be a skilled home or commercial cook who can prepare healthy, delicious meals for children in a timely and safe manner.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare nutritious breakfasts morning snacks, lunches, and pm snacks for children from infancy to school age.
- Follow the centre's rotating menu while ensuring meals are fresh, balanced, and appealing to children.
- Safely prepare and serve meals on schedule.
- Accommodate food allergies, sensitivities,



and dietary restrictions with care and accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times.
- Wash dishes, sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, counters, and floors after meal preparation.
- Ensure all food preparation complies with Alberta Health Services, licensing regulations, and food safety standards.
- Monitor kitchen inventory and assist with ordering groceries and supplies.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs when necessary.
- Assist with light housekeeping duties, including kitchen cleaning and occasional laundry.
- Work collaboratively with educators and management to support the daily operation of the centre.

Qualifications:

- Cooking Skills: Strong experience in cooking for groups (either in a professional kitchen, a school/daycare, or significant large-scale home cooking).
- Reliability: You are the "heart" of the center's schedule - being dependable and on time is essential.
- Organization: Ability to multitask and manage meal timings so kids eat on schedule.
- Asset (ECE Background): If you are also a Level 1, 2, or 3 Early Childhood Educator, that is a major plus! This would allow you more interaction with families and the classroom.
- Certifications:



* Current Food Safety/Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Current First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector (Must be completed via Edmonton Police Solutions).
- Prior work experience as a chef
- Fluency in English
- Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Flexibility, team oriented, and excellent oral/written communication skills
- Ability to do early ay (7:00 AM), late day shift (ends at 5:45 PM), or work a split shift AM/PM
