We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to support children living alongside their mothers in our residential treatment center. Our program focuses on family reunification, addiction recovery, and mental health healing. Many of the children in our care have experienced educational gaps, developmental setbacks, or trauma due to past instability.

In this role, you will provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where children can heal, learn, and catch up on key developmental milestones while their mothers work through recovery.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

- Trauma-Informed & Developmental Support: Plan and lead flexible, age-appropriate activities (for toddlers through young teens) that build emotional regulation, social skills, and foundational learning.
- Support Developmental Catch-Up: Assess children’s individual developmental levels—rather than just their chronological age—and tailor activities to help bridge gaps caused by disrupted care or missed schooling.
- Parent-Child & Reunification Support: Model positive, calm parenting and behavioral guidance techniques for mothers, supporting the bonding and family reunification process.
- Inclusive Caregiving: Implement personalized strategies for children with neurodiversity, special needs, or behavioral challenges stemming from trauma and chronic stress.
- Observation & Documentation: Keep clear, objective records of developmental progress, behavioral patterns, and milestones to inform individual care plans and support interdisciplinary team discussions.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with counselors,



caseworkers, and clinical staff to ensure a consistent, safe setting for each family.
- Safety & Environment: Maintain a clean, predictable, and physically safe environment that adheres to childcare and safety standards.

Skills & Qualifications
- Qualifications: Certified Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or equivalent education/training in Child Development or Youth Care.
- Trauma-Informed Lens: Understanding of how trauma, maternal addiction, and early life adversity impact childhood development and behavior.
- Adaptability & Patience: Ability to meet children where they are at, managing multi-age groups with patience, structure, and low-arousal de-escalation techniques.
- Special Needs & Developmental Delays: Experience working with children who have developmental setbacks, neurodivergence, or behavioral challenges.
- Strong Boundaries & Compassion: Ability to maintain clear professional boundaries while delivering warm, non-judgmental care to families in crisis.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for reporting, documentation, and sensitive interactions with mothers and clinical staff.
