Executive Leadership Opportunity (Confidential role)

Canada (adaptable location - Vancouver, BC, Calgary, AB, or the Greater Toronto Area, ON)

Full-time, permanent, national travel 30% of the time.

We are seeking an experienced senior DVM to join our client's leadership team to oversee the Canadian market. This senior leadership position is responsible for setting the clinical vision and medical strategy for a growing network of medical clinics across Canada. The successful candidate will provide executive-level medical leadership, establish and maintain clinical standards, mentor regional leaders, and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care while supporting long-term organizational growth.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity which reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The position requires regular travel across Canada to support hospitals, clinics, leadership teams, recruitment initiatives, and strategic growth activities.

Responsibilities

- Clinical Strategy & Quality Leadership:
- Develops and implements national medical standards, evidence-based protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the hospital network.
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives that promote clinical excellence, innovation, and consistency of care.
- Establishes, monitors, and evaluates clinical quality metrics, audit programs, medical record standards, and key performance indicators.
- Provides executive medical leadership and ensures alignment between clinical priorities and organizational objectives.
- Leads clinical governance initiatives and facilitates medical leadership forums to promote collaboration and best practices.
- Leadership, Mentorship & Professional Development:
- Provides leadership, coaching, and mentorship to senior DVM leaders and hospital medical leadership teams.
- Develops structured mentorship, leadership development, and continuing education initiatives for DVM’s and other professionals.




- Supports succession planning and the professional growth of clinical leaders throughout the organization.
- Promotes collaboration between hospital teams and corporate leadership to strengthen engagement and communication.
- Fosters a culture focused on continuous learning, accountability, and clinical excellence.
- Regulatory Compliance & Professional Standards:
- Oversees medical record quality, regulatory compliance, controlled substance protocols, vaccination standards, and professional practice guidelines.
- Leads clinical investigations, complaint resolution, and adverse event reviews while ensuring fair, objective, and educational outcomes.
- Partners with legal and operational stakeholders on complex clinical matters when required.
- Monitors changes to DVM’s regulations and ensures organizational compliance across jurisdictions.
- Strategic Business Partnership:
- Serves as the senior clinical advisor to executive leadership on medical strategy, operational initiatives, and long-term organizational planning.
- Partners with business development teams to support acquisitions through clinical due diligence, hospital assessments, and integration planning.
- Collaborates with talent acquisition to support DVM recruitment, university partnerships, and industry networking initiatives.
- Represents the organization at industry conferences, professional associations, and academic events to strengthen employer brand and clinical reputation.
- Provides clinical oversight and guidance for public-facing educational and marketing initiatives.
- Organizational Leadership & Culture:
- Champions a collaborative, inclusive, and psychologically safe culture across the organization.
- Drives organizational change initiatives that improve patient outcomes, team engagement, and operational effectiveness.




- Builds strong relationships with DVM leaders, hospital teams, academic institutions, and industry partners.
- Promotes innovation, accountability, and a patient-centered approach throughout the organization.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- DVM education or equivalent from an accredited institution, required.
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice DVM in Canada.
- Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in companion clinical practice.
- Extensive leadership experience within a multi-site clinical organization, required.
- Demonstrated experience leading senior DVM leaders and supporting large clinical teams.
- Proven ability to develop medical strategy, clinical governance, quality assurance, and evidence-based standards of care.
- Strong knowledge of DVM regulatory compliance, professional standards, and clinical auditing processes.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or practice integration initiatives is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance clinical excellence and organizational objectives.
- Outstanding communication, strategic planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other business software applications.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Canada.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered a strong asset.
