Experienced in Contract Law and Litigation (Contract Part-time In-House Position)

Schedule: 2 days/week

Statesman Group of Companies Ltd. is seeking an experienced Contract Law & Litigation Lawyer interested in an in house, Part-Time position (2 days/week) or a committed allocation of time equivalent for consultation and to serve in the process of Investigation Data for complex matters. The ideal candidate would be a self-motivated, proactive attorney capable of working as a member of a team in a pro-active environment. The ideal candidate will be someone with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent ability to attend to detail, and a direct, concise, precise communication style and follow-through.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Reporting to the President / CEO, provide legal advice and support
- Provide in-depth assistance with both simple and complex investigative matters
- Review applicable statutes and regulations
- Draft and review legal documents, mostly specific to litigation matters
- Advise on civil procedure and process
- Other legal matters as assigned such as Patent Requirements

Qualifications:

- Practicing Lawyer in Alberta
- Effective attention to detail
- High level of integrity, confidentiality,



and accountability
- Robust work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to integrate and work effectively with a legal team, including other lawyers and senior management
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

Experience/Requirement:

- 6+ years’ experience in Litigation Law (Required)
- Member good standing with the Alberta Law Society (Required)
- Experience on more complex, multi-faceted litigation considered an asset
