HazTrack

London

This is a full-time contractor job with consistent daily install routes and a clear pay structure for a projected duration of 1-2 months, starting in the last week of August. No slow weeks, no chasing invoices. You pick up materials and work every day.

What We Do

HazTrack builds wireless tank-level sensors for the used cooking oil (UCO) collection industry. Every restaurant that deep-fries food has a UCO tank out back. We put sensors in those tanks so collectors know when to pick up; eliminating wasted trips and catching theft.

We are in the middle of a major deployment across Southern Ontario and need experienced, reliable people to install sensors in the field. This is hands-on, independent work. You will be on the road every day, moving between accounts, and installing sensors on tanks at restaurants and food service locations.

The Role

You will be responsible for installing HazTrack sensors on used cooking oil tanks across Southern Ontario; from Windsor through London and into the Toronto area. You will pick up sensors from a designated depot, follow a pre-built daily route, and install 20–25 sensors per day.

If you have any field, trades, or installation background, you will pick this up in a training session. The work is physical, outdoor, and independent. You will not have someone looking over your shoulder; you will be trusted to execute your route, do the job right, and document everything with photos.

Contractors who perform well are first in line when future deployment phases open up - we are growing and prefer to work with people we know.

What You'll Do

- Pick up your sensor kit for week 1 from the designated depot at the start of the project
- Follow a pre-built daily route across Southern Ontario: Windsor to Toronto corridor
- Install HazTrack sensors on UCO tanks at restaurants and food service locations
- Clean the mounting surface, position the sensor correctly, and verify it is reading accurately
- Complete a photo audit for every install; 3 photos required per tank before moving on
- Log any unable-to-install tanks with a photo and notes in the app
- Target: 15–25 installs per day depending on route density
- Contact HazTrack support if you are unable to install a sensor, access a tank, or if a sensor fails to connect.

Required Photos Per Install Every install requires 3 photos submitted through the HazTrack app before payment is released:

- Photo of the Tank’s current fill level
- Photo of the sensor mounted inside the tank
- Full wide-angle photo of the tank following installation

When you are unable to install at a location, we require a photo providing supporting evidence as to the reason. No photo, no payment. This is non-negotiable and applies to every install.

Tools & Equipment

You are responsible for sourcing and maintaining your own tools. HazTrack will provide the sensor stencil and the sensors themselves.

- Cordless drill — required. Steel tanks require a cobalt or titanium drill bit.
- Drill bits — 5/16" for plastic tanks, 1/2" cobalt for steel tanks
- Standard screwdrivers (flathead and Robertson)
- Metal Scraper Tool/Putty Knife
- Tape measure
- Cleaning rags and all-purpose cleaner
- Small step ladder (for tanks with limited top access)
- Smartphone with camera and data plan (for the HazTrack app)
- Own vehicle in good working order

Tank Types You'll Encounter HazTrack will train you on all tank types before deployment. You do not need prior experience with any of them.

- Outdoor steel tanks (box steel) — most common. Requires drilling an antenna hole and mounting with magnets.
- Outdoor plastic tanks — screw mount using stencil and drill.

A full installation guide and in-person training will be provided before your first day in the field.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for people who treat independent work like a profession. You don't need someone checking on you; you just do the job right and move on.

- You show up on time and do what you said you would do
- You are comfortable working independently all day with minimal supervision
- You take pride in doing the job right, not just getting it done

- You can handle a physical, outdoor job in all weather conditions
- You are comfortable driving long distances and navigating between multiple locations daily
- You communicate clearly — if something goes wrong on a route, you flag it immediately
- You are not afraid to call support when something is not working rather than guessing

Requirements

Required:

- Valid Canadian driver's licence
- Own reliable vehicle
- Own tools — cordless drill minimum
- Smartphone with camera and data
- Ability to work full time hours for a 3-month contract
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather

Nice to have:

- Prior field work, trades, or installation experience — any industry
- Familiarity with drilling into steel or plastic surfaces
- Experience following optimized route schedules
- WHMIS certification

Compensation

- $40 CAD/hour — at 15-25 installs per day across a week, this is consistent full-time income for the duration of the contract
- Performance bonuses for routes completed on time and to standard
- This is a straight contractor role — no vacation pay or benefits. Mileage is at your cost to manage (routes are pre-built and efficient), so factor your vehicle cost into you decision before applying
- Payment released per completed and QA-approved route completion
- Discretionary bonuses available to recognize consistent high-quality work and dedication

Safety UCO tank environments are greasy and slippery. Treat them accordingly.

- Use your step ladder properly — do not climb on tanks
- Do not mount sensors near high-voltage lines or large metal obstructions
- If you are unsure about a site, do not proceed — call support

How to Apply Send your resume and a short note to [email protected]. Tell us where you are based, what field or hands-on work looks like on your resume, and when you can start. We're filling routes now and move quickly; if you're a fit, you'll hear back within 24 hours.
