Position Summary The Finance Manager is responsible for the overall financial operations of the Company, including financial reporting, payroll oversight, cash management, job costing, regulatory compliance, benefits and pension administration, and financial systems. This role provides leadership to the finance team while ensuring accurate financial information, strong internal controls, and operational support that contributes to informed business decisions.
Duties
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Manage month-end and year-end and manage accounting processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, bank and GL reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Produce financial reports including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Financial Summary Report, Divisional Reporting.
- Provide support during year-end audits and reviews.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Reconcile inventory valuations and capital asset records.
- Complete HST remittances and other statutory reporting requirements.
2. Cash Management & Banking
- Monitor daily banking activity and cash positions.
- Maintain cash flow forecasts and reporting.
- Manage banking relationships and services.
- Review financing fees and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee AR collections.
- Manage corporate credit card programs and evaluate banking solutions.
- Manage financial loans and related reporting.
- Monitor import-export financial obligations, deposits, and border fees.
- Manage foreign exchange transactions and wire transfers.
3. Payroll Oversight & Administration
- Oversee payroll processes and controls.
- Review bi-weekly payroll for accuracy and completeness prior to transmission.
- Establish and maintain union and non-union wage increases and payroll changes.
- Maintain accurate payroll earning codes and payroll systems.
- Prepare annual payroll compliance activities including T4 preparation, Employer Health Tax (EHT), WSIB reconciliations, Payroll accruals
- Provide guidance and oversight to payroll-related activities.
- Generate all payroll-related remittance reports.
4. Benefits, Pension & Liability Insurance Administration
- Manage group benefits and employee benefit programs.
- Manage plan changes.
- Maintain relationships with group benefits administrators and providers.
- Prepare and submit annual pension reporting requirements in accordance with the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory pension requirements.
- Maintain relationships with pension administrators and carriers.
- Maintain and review annual corporate liability insurance and bonding requirements.
- Maintain relationships with insurance brokers.
5. Compliance & Risk Management
- Oversee and manage customer and subcontractor vetting processes.
- Support customer compliance programs,
third-party compliance platforms, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate annual CVOR renewals and related vehicle compliance requirements.
6. Financial Systems & Process Improvement
- Administer and support finance-related systems, including Jonas.
- Implement and oversee financial system setup and configuration.
- Support payroll, job costing, reporting, and workflow improvements.
- Develop and improve financial processes and internal controls.
- Research and recommend system enhancements and operational efficiencies.
- Lead initiatives to improve financial data quality and reporting accuracy.
7. Job Costing & Operational Financial Support
- Support job costing processes, reporting and other related financial analysis.
- Analyze project financial performance and cost allocations.
- Support operations and service teams with financial information and reporting requirements.
- Support forecasting and financial planning activities.
- Provide financial analysis to support business decisions.
8. Team Leadership & Department Oversight
- Provide oversight and support to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll functions, as department supervisor.
- Monitor department workflows and ensure financial processes are completed accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on financial matters and business decisions.
- Foster effective communication and coordination between finance and operational departments.
- Identify issues, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions, with the help of senior leadership.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.
- Experience in the construction, mechanical contracting, or project-based industry is considered an asset.
- CPA designation, or progress toward a CPA designation, is considered an asset but is not required.
Technical Knowledge
- Robust understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, payroll, and internal controls.
- Working knowledge of payroll legislation,
statutory remittances, HST, and year-end reporting requirements.
- Experience with accounting and payroll software; Jonas Construction Software experience is considered a strong asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Regular schedule of 36 hours per week, Monday through Thursday.
- This position is based in the Company's office. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available for this role.
- Primarily an office environment requiring prolonged periods of sitting and computer-based work.
- Occasional flexibility in work hours may be required during payroll processing, month-end and year-end reporting, audits, or other business requirements.
- Regular interaction with employees, financial institutions, vendors, benefit providers, auditors, and senior leadership.
