Location & Workplace Expectations
- Location: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days a week) | Downtown Nanaimo, BC
- The Foundation (First 3–6 Months): To fully immerse yourself in our unique SaaS billing cycles, proprietary software, and multi-company workflows, you will work full-time from our downtown Nanaimo office.
- Long-Term Flexibility: Once you are fully up to speed and workflows are optimized, we will transition to a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of 3 days per week on-site.
Compensation & Perks
- Salary Range: The expected salary range for this role is between $90,000 - $110,000 CAD.
- Perks: Onsite Parking, Benefits, and 3 Weeks Vacation.

The Opportunity Real Estate Webmasters (REW) is seeking an operationally rigorous, hands-on Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and establish absolute accuracy across our business. If you are a senior accounting professional who thrives on clean ledgers, robust internal controls, and the rewarding dynamics of a fast-paced technology company, this role offers an incredible canvas to make a lasting impact.In this position, you will directly drive the day-to-day financial operations of a premier tech brand.
You will own the full financial cycle, including monthly tracking, sophisticated SaaS billing compliance, accurate statements, and year-end reconciliations. Your oversight will ensure our financial engine runs with total precision.Your primary impact will be driving operational excellence and efficiency.
You will have the freedom to conduct comprehensive workflow audits, streamline our unique SaaS billing cycles, and design better overall processes for the finance team.
We are looking for an analytical problem-solver who loves uncovering efficiencies, upgrading workflows, and ensuring our accounting engine runs with total precision.While process and rigour are the main drivers of this role, you will also serve as a dependable technical leader for our two existing team members. You will act as their expert sounding board, reviewing daily work and providing the technical guidance they need to succeed, while partnering with the General Manager/Integrator who supports the team's administrative and organizational structure.
What You’ll Do
1. Operational Rigour & Process Optimization
- Workflow Audits & Efficiencies: Conduct comprehensive reviews of our existing financial workflows to identify gaps, eliminate bottlenecks, and implement smarter, faster ways of working.
- Modernize Operations: Maximize our financial software stack and identify opportunities to integrate automation and AI tools where they save time and improve compliance.
- Daily Execution: Facilitate core daily and monthly financial operations, including vendor tracking, SaaS customer billing, and contract revenue management.
2. Financial Stewardship & Accuracy
- Closing & Reporting: Own and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation processes to ensure total accuracy across all ledgers.
- Financial Statements: Prepare and deliver clear,
timely monthly financial statements and oversee the execution of the fiscal year-end.
- Budget Tracking: Track and report on annual department budgets, providing clear visibility into monthly budget variances.
3. Business Continuity & Documentation
- Process Mapping: Standardize and document our unique SaaS billing cycles, proprietary software workflows, and core accounting procedures.
- Risk Mitigation: Build structural resilience within the finance department to ensure seamless operational continuity and eliminate single-point-of-failure risks.
4. Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance
- Technical Sounding Board: Act as the go-to technical expert and "player-coach" for our two existing team members.
- File Review: Review accounting entries and reconciliations for quality assurance, providing constructive guidance to help the team maintain high precision in their daily work.
Who You Are
- The Designation: You hold an active CPA or CMA designation.
- The Experience: 7+ years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience, with a proven track record of handling complex reconciliations, statement preparation, and year-end procedures. Experience in a SaaS or subscription-based tech setting is a major asset.
- The Operations Mind: You are a natural problem-solver who genuinely enjoys digging into workflows, auditing legacy systems, and organizing data into clean, efficient processes.
- The Right Fit: You possess a "no-ego," collaborative attitude. You lead through encouragement and enjoy sharing your technical knowledge, reviewing files, and helping intermediate accountants build confidence and accuracy.
- Tech-Forward: You are highly proficient in Google Suite, comfortable working in a Mac environment, and adapt quickly to proprietary software systems.
- Analytical & Concise: You value clarity and have a knack for turning complex data into clear, actionable insights for the General Manager/Integrator and leadership team.
