Front of House Coordinator – Women’s Shelter

We are seeking a dependable, organized, and compassionate House Coordinator to support the safe and efficient operation of a women’s shelter in Jackson’s Point, Ontario.

This hands-on position combines facility maintenance, safety monitoring, inventory control, contractor coordination, cleaning, and administrative record-keeping. The House Coordinator will help ensure that the shelter remains safe, functional, well-maintained, and welcoming for women and children.

The successful candidate must demonstrate discretion, sound judgment, professionalism, and respect when working within a confidential residential shelter environment.

This is a part-time contract position for approximately 10 to 12 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours based on operational needs.

Duties

- Complete routine cleaning, garbage disposal, recycling, and general property upkeep
- Perform minor maintenance and handyman tasks within your level of experience and competency
- Identify plumbing, electrical, structural, or facility concerns and report issues requiring professional repair
- Inspect safety, security, and emergency equipment and immediately report damaged or missing items
- Monitor First Aid, naloxone, emergency, household, and maintenance supplies
- Maintain indoor and outdoor areas in a safe, clean, and functional condition
- Track groceries, household essentials, maintenance materials, and other inventory
- Receive, organize, and document physical donations
- Maintain accurate digital and paper task logs, work orders, receipts, and maintenance records
- Update preventive maintenance schedules and follow up on outstanding repairs
- Coordinate contractor access and verify that assigned work has been completed
- Report incomplete work, delays,



safety concerns, or contractor performance issues to management
- Support emergency drills and workplace health and safety activities
- Attend relevant house, staff, or operational meetings when required
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding residents, employees, and shelter operations
- Escalate urgent safety, security, maintenance, or resident-related concerns according to shelter procedures
- Complete other reasonable house coordination and facility support duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Previous experience in facility maintenance, property support, building operations, housekeeping, handyman services, or a related role
- Practical knowledge of basic maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning, and property upkeep
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to travel to the Jackson’s Point location and other assigned properties when required
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain accurate digital and paper records
- Comfortable using email, basic office programs, and electronic work-order or record-keeping systems
- Ability to work independently while following instructions and established procedures
- Robust judgment and the ability to recognize when a task requires a qualified contractor
- Professional, respectful, and non-judgmental approach when working around women and children




- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries
- Ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to approximately 40 pounds
- WHMIS certification or willingness to complete required training
- First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset
- Experience working in a shelter, supportive housing, transitional housing, or community-service environment is considered an asset
- Experience coordinating contractors, supplies, work orders, or preventive maintenance is considered an asset
- Trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, or de-escalation training is considered an asset
- Successful completion of reference checks, background screening, and required shelter clearances
