Elevate fish conservation efforts as a Fisheries Biologist for the Ministry of Setting and Protected Areas in Cochrane, Alberta. Focus on scientific assessments and stakeholder engagement in this full-time role. The Ministry of Environment and Protected Areas is seeking a skilled Fisheries Biologist to advance conservation and recovery of fish populations.

This full-time position entails assessing habitats, conducting population monitoring, and developing land use plans. Successful candidates will engage with stakeholders and implement stewardship initiatives for sustainable fisheries management. Key Responsibilities:

- Provide fisheries expertise for flood and drought mitigation projects
- Support development of land use plans and regulatory processes




- Plan and deliver population monitoring and assessment programs
- Implement recovery initiatives for threatened fish species
- Foster relationships with stakeholders and First Nations communities Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Biology or related field
- Minimum 4 years of fisheries management experience
- Experience in data analysis and technical report writing
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Knowledge of legislation regarding fisheries management Contribute to Alberta's aquatic ecosystems through evidence-based fisheries management and effective stakeholder collaboration.
