About the Role

Gary Parker Excavating Ltd. is seeking physically fit, hard-working individuals who enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions. You will be joining a close-knit crew dedicated to installing heavy civil infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, and underground pipes (drinking water, stormwater, and sewer services) for municipalities and homeowners.

Compensation & Benefits

- Additional Pay: Overtime pay

- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10-hour shifts (Weekend availability and Overtime as needed)

Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Foreman, the Labourer is responsible for site preparation, pipe laying, and finish grading for civil municipal projects.

- Prepare trenches, backfill, compact, and finish grade soil and gravel for buried services, roads, and berms.
- Lay out pipe routes following specifications or blueprints, coordinating with the Foreman.
- Cut, align, position, and bed stormwater, sanitary, and water mains.
- Connect pipe pieces, seal joints, and tap/drill holes to connect auxiliary lines or devices.
- Check slopes for conformance to requirements using levels or lasers.
- Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
- Perform other general labour and construction-related duties as required.

Requirements & Qualifications

- Ability to Commute/Relocate: Must be able to reliably commute to the job site or plan to relocate before starting work. (Required)
- Driver’s License: Class 5 Driver’s License, or equivalent. (Preferred)
- Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Preferred)
- Experience: 2–4 years in underground pipe laying and/or 3–5 years in road construction.



(Preferred)
- Language: Flexible language requirement (French not required).
- Skills: Basic mathematical skills, excellent hand-eye coordination, balance, and attention to detail.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

- Work is performed outdoors in various settings, involving exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust, concrete, and asphalt.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Out of town travel and overtime may be required.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is strictly required (sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear are highly recommended).
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
