We’re looking for a compassionate, dependable, and positive person to join our small, supportive team providing one-to-one care for a young woman with physical disabilities who lives at home with her family in Vernon.

This is much more than a caregiving position. It’s an opportunity to build a meaningful relationship while supporting independence, community participation, and a full, active life.

She is a bright, engaging young woman who communicates non-verbally. She has a wonderful sense of humour, clear preferences, and meaningful relationships with those who know her well. She enjoys equine-assisted therapy (horseback riding), adaptive skiing with assistance, swimming one to two times each week, spending time with friends and family, and being an active member of her community.

We’re looking for someone who is patient, observant, and interested in learning her unique communication style. The right person will see beyond words, value person-centred care, and enjoy supporting someone to live a full and meaningful life.

What You’ll Do

This role combines hands-on personal care with supporting an active lifestyle in the community.

Responsibilities include

- Assisting with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating as needed.
- Supporting walking, mobility, transfers, positioning, and daily exercise.
- Assisting with medication administration.
- Preparing meals and snacks.
- Completing light housekeeping and laundry.
- Supporting participation in horseback riding,



equine-assisted therapy, adaptive skiing, swimming, community outings, appointments, shopping, and visits with friends and family.
- Encouraging independence, choice, communication, and participation in meaningful daily activities.
- Learning and responding to non-verbal communication in a thoughtful and respectful way.
- Completing daily documentation and communicating effectively with the support team.
- Working collaboratively with family members and other support staff to provide consistent, person-centred care.

Qualifications

- Health Care Aide (HCA), Community Support Worker, or related caregiving experience preferred.




- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Comfortable driving to appointments and community activities.
- Able to swim is a must and able to assist during swimming activities.
- Criminal Record Check

Schedule Part-Time / Casual

Primarily

- Fridays
- Saturdays
- Sundays

Additional weekday shifts may become available to cover vacations, appointments, and team scheduling.
