Position Summary

We are seeking reliable, compassionate, and motivated Independent Living Coaches (ILC’s), to support individuals with disabilities, mental health challenges, or anyone needing support with the activities of daily living. Our colleagues are not just there to be “sitters” or to do all the tasks of daily living for someone. We are looking for natural teachers who can coach and support our participants in living a fulfilling life within our community.

The ILC plays a vital role in empowering clients to create and keep independence in their homes and communities, while ensuring safety, dignity, and respect.

With this in mind, we need natural independent leaders who bring a sense of purpose,



sense of strength and sense of humor in all they do! Our clients are interested in taking part in a variety of activities within the community, while also learning how to support themselves in a home workplace. This means we need supportive colleagues to join our team who also have an interest in getting out to explore new things while bringing a sense of fun to learning the routine of maintaining a home.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide instruction and support with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry.
- Provide companionship and assistance with errands, appointments, and community activities.
- Encourage, coach and teach independent living skills and healthy routines.
- Facilitate opportunities for practicing communication and social skills
- Foster communication with your ILC team and management team along with other community partners and family members
- Stand by assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), grooming, dressing, and hygiene.
- Provide medication assistance and reminders within all regulatory provisions
- Monitor client’s well-being and reports changes to supervisors
- Maintains accurate documentation and daily care notes
- Follows all established workplace safety and policy guidelines
- Foster a positive, respectful, and supportive environment maintaining client dignity and choice.




- Actively brings forward suggestions to management for care plan recommendations and new ideas for activities and social development.

Qualifications

- High school diploma required.
- Additional education in various related fields of Human/Social services desired
- Prior caregiving experience a definite asset
- Superior communication skills
- Completion of Food Safety & Medication Management courses preferred. Courses for Fire & Life Safety, Mental Health First Aid & WHIMIS considered an asset
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Safety Screening (reimbursement for cost provided upon hire)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation an asset
- CPR C/First Aid certification preferred
- Compassionate, patient, dependable, and professional
