Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Control and CNC Programmer to join our structural steel fabrication team in Lucan, Ontario. Working on our steady day shift, you will bridge the gap between detailing and production by nesting raw materials and programming our CNC equipment. You will also manage structural steel inventory levels to minimize waste and ensure project timelines are met.
Key Responsibilities
- CNC Programming: Create efficient nesting layouts and CNC programs for our Peddinghaus , Voortman , and Messer fabrication lines.
- Software Operation: Utilize VACAM , OmniWin , and Peddinghaus software suites to process DSTV/NC files and convert detailing data into clean machine code.
- Inventory Management: Track raw material inventory, allocate steel to specific projects, and manage remnants/drop material.
- Material Procurement: Coordinate with the purchasing team to order missing materials based on upcoming project requirements.
- Production Optimization: Minimize material scrap through strategic nesting and efficient cutting patterns.
- Quality & Verification: Review detail drawings and data files to ensure accuracy before releasing programs to the shop floor.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of CNC programming experience within a structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with VACAM , OmniWin , and Peddinghaus software is highly preferred.
- Equipment Knowledge: Direct familiarity with processing systems (Voortman), plasma cutters (Messer), and beam lines (Peddinghaus).
- Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and blueprints.
- Material Knowledge: Solid understanding of structural steel shapes (beams, channels, angles, plates) and grades.
- Logistics: Reliable transportation to our facility in Lucan.
