Overview

Solar
Technician (Field Service) and play a vital role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar energy systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop hands-on skills in renewable energy technology while working in diverse outdoor environments. As a Jr.
Solar
Technician, you will be instrumental in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of solar power installations, contributing to a sustainable future. This paid position is perfect for motivated individuals eager to grow their technical expertise and make a positive impact on the environment.
Duties
- Maintain and troubleshoot solar equipment and facilities.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on inverters, combiners, racking/solar panels, trackers, central/string inverters, and other PV electrical equipment as assigned by Supervisor.
- Conduct voltage readings as necessary, replace solar panels and investigate/repair string related issues/faults.
- Use available tools to monitor energy output and respond accordingly to issues requiring immediate corrective action.
- Adhere to all safety standards while completing assigned tasks. Complete Lock-out/Tag-out and job specific documentation.
- Daily recording all findings through an online reporting system.
- Occasionally direct and inspect the work of maintenance helpers when on site together.
Qualifications
- · A combination of education, training and experience. Post Secondary education in a related field of study preferred (i.e. Renewable/Sustainable Energy Technician,
Electrical Technology diploma, Solar Energy Technician diploma, etc..)
- Work experience in a related field; preferably in electrical or mechanical environments. Aptitude for mechanical and electrical equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of general electrical practices related to solar such as crimping, testing DC strings, wire management, MC4 connectors, etc.
- General knowledge of solar inverters and combiners
- Must have current and valid “Training at Heights” certification and “Ladder Safety” training OR be willing to obtain certification immediately upon hire.
- Computer and digital literacy using mobile apps and software for purposes of report writing.
- Must have strong problem solving skills in order to investigate and troubleshoot equipment.
- Ability to work alone/independently
- Ability to work at heights and physically able to climb ladders, squat, kneel, bend and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be comfortable driving long distances and sitting for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to read and write English to understand and comply with health & safety standards & documentation.
- Ability to travel within Ontario. Occasionally may require overnight stays.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Adhere to all health & safety standards and practices.
*Note: a personal vehicle is required for on-the-job use Pay: From $30.00 per hour
