Summary

As Providence Health Care prepares for the opening of the New St. Paul's Hospital, some aspects of this position may evolve during the transition period. While the overall nature of the role is expected to remain substantially the same, operational requirements may result in adjustments to scheduling, FTE, unit assignment, site or other operational details.

JOB SUMMARY:

Within the context of a patient, client and family centered model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, promotes a secure, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.

Under the general direction of the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Lead Hand directs work assignments by performing duties such as, prioritizing and coordinating work assignments and ensuring goods are ordered, received, inspected, distributed and stored in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Grade 12 plus two years' recent, related experience with six months' supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to deal with others effectively.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Ability to supervise.

Ability to organize work.

Ability to operate related equipment.

Directs work assignments by performing duties such as coordinating work assignments, reviewing and checking work to ensure completion, making adjustments as required, reassigning work,



and forwarding unresolved issues to the Manager for resolution.

Provides orientation and training to staff members by demonstrating and reviewing work procedures, checking completed work, noting errors, monitoring completed work and providing feedback to the trainee and Manager.

Communicates new work procedures and standards to staff, assists Manager with implementation and maintenance of procedures and standards for designated area, maintains related documentation and provides feedback to the Manager on issues arising from implementation.

Liaises with user departments regarding problems with inventory and systems, assists Manager and/or other staff with planning and implementation of new systems and services.

Receives, inspects, unpacks, counts and checks received goods against central warehouse shipping manifest. Ensures goods are delivered to appropriate destination through various means inclusive of automated guided vehicles.

Stocks shelves and ensures appropriate stock rotation.

Identifies receipt of incorrect and/or damaged goods and contacts central warehouse. Packs incorrect and/or damaged goods for return and completes appropriate documentation.

Supplies information to departments about inventory items as required.

Maintains department in an orderly and clean manner.

Performs other related duties as required.
