MyMealAid is an early stage preventive nutrition technology company building culturally inclusive support for everyday food decisions.
We are beginning with South Asian adults in Canada who have provider identified prediabetes or an elevated risk of type 2 diabetes. Our platform is being designed to provide practical nutrition support between healthcare appointments.
MyMealAid is currently pre-revenue and preparing for product development and beta testing. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a motivated law student to join our growing interdisciplinary team as a Legal Research and Operations Assistant. This chance is designed for a student who wants to develop practical legal research and operations skills while gaining experience within an early stage Canadian startup.
Students seeking a co-op, practicum, clinical placement or experiential learning opportunity are also encouraged to apply. Any academic placement must be approved by the student’s educational institution before beginning. This is a student research and operations position.
The successful applicant will not independently provide legal advice or represent MyMealAid as legal counsel. Research and draft materials will be prepared for review by qualified legal professionals when required. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize and maintain corporate records,
incorporation documents and key compliance deadlines
- Research Canadian corporate, privacy, copyright and trademark requirements
- Maintain records involving intellectual property, branding, content and software assets
- Organize confidentiality, intellectual property and team agreements
- Support research involving consent, data practices, artificial intelligence and digital health
- Help prepare terms of use, privacy documents and disclaimers for professional review
- Summarize legal research and track questions requiring external legal guidance QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in a Canadian JD program or comparable Canadian law program
- Recent Canadian law graduates may also apply
- Strong legal research and professional writing skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly
- Comfortable handling confidential company information
- Reliable and able to work independently in a remote environment
- Interested in startups, digital health or preventive healthcare ASSETS
- Coursework or experience in corporate law, intellectual property, privacy, technology law or health law
- Familiarity with Canadian or Ontario corporate legislation
- Experience reviewing contracts or organizing corporate records
- Previous experience with a startup, legal clinic or student business organization WHAT YOU WILL GAIN

Applicants completing a co-op, practicum or course based placement must receive approval from their educational institution before beginning.
The initial commitment is approximately four to six hours per week for three months. There may be an opportunity to continue with the team as MyMealAid grows. Future employment, compensation or equity cannot be guaranteed. Please submit:
