Hayter’s Farm is seeking an experienced Licensed Heavy-Duty Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of trucks, trailers, farm machinery and heavy equipment. The successful candidate will have robust mechanical and diagnostic skills, experience working with air-brake systems and practical experience in a farm or agricultural environment.

This position requires a dependable, safety-focused individual who can work independently, prioritize repairs and respond effectively to unexpected equipment breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain trucks, trailers, tractors, loaders and other farm equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance according to established schedules.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and air-brake systems.
- Complete brake inspections, adjustments and repairs.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns in the shop, plant yard or field.
- Perform seasonal inspections and prepare farm equipment for planting, harvesting and winter operations.
- Complete service records, inspection reports and maintenance documentation.
- Identify parts and materials required for repairs and assist with maintaining parts inventory.
- Ensure equipment meets applicable safety and operating requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
- Follow all company health and safety,



food safety and biosecurity procedures.
- Communicate equipment concerns and repair priorities to management.
- Assist with general maintenance duties when required.

Qualifications

- Reefer trailer experience an asset
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Provide a clean driving record
- Valid Drivers license
- Previous experience with asset management software an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Work effectively in a team environment, as well as independently
- Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Physical and Scheduling Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb and work in confined or outdoor areas.
- Comfortable working around livestock, farm machinery and active production areas.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Availability for occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends or emergency call-ins during busy farming periods.

Schedule Monday – Friday from 7AM – 4:30PM some Saturday shifts required for our busy season i.e.; planting, harvest and vacation coverage. This schedule is subject to change due to production demands and emergencies.

Pay: $114,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
