Role Description The Litigation Associate will work on a full-time, on-site basis at the firm’s Toronto, ON office, supporting a broad range of commercial and civil litigation matters. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings, motions, and other court documents; conducting legal research and preparing memoranda; and assisting with discovery, including document review and examinations. The role involves managing case files, coordinating with clients, experts, and opposing counsel, and supporting senior lawyers in hearings, mediations, and trials.
The Litigation
Associate will also participate in strategy development, help assess litigation risks and outcomes, and contribute to client-focused solutions aligned with business objectives.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Law, including knowledge of civil procedure and commercial litigation principles.
Experience drafting and arguing Motions, with the ability to prepare persuasive written and oral submissions.
Proficiency in legal Research, including case law, statutes, and regulatory frameworks relevant to Canadian courts.
Exposure to Depositions / examinations for discovery, including preparation, attendance, and follow-up analysis.
Familiarity with Courts processes, rules, and practice in Ontario, including case management and trial preparation.
Licensed to practice law in Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
1–4 years of post-call litigation experience in a law firm or comparable environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
Ability to manage multiple files, prioritize tasks, and work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
Client-focused mindset, sound judgment, and interest in developing long-term professional relationships.
