We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of engineering, site, and project-related tasks, and will gain practical experience in mechanical building systems, design coordination, field review, and reporting.
This position is well suited for a student who is interested in developing hands-on experience in both office and site environments. The candidate will work closely with engineers and project managers to support ongoing projects from investigation and design through construction and closeout.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation and coordination of engineering drawings and documents
- Support design and drafting tasks for mechanical building systems
- Assist with equipment selection, system layouts, and technical documentation
- Participate in site visits, field reviews, and existing condition assessments
- Prepare site review notes, reports, and related project documentation
- Review drawings and documents for general coordination with other disciplines
- Assist with project administration, construction review, and general engineering support tasks
- Attend meetings with clients, contractors, and consultants as required
- Support engineers and project managers with day-to-day project coordination
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a university or college engineering program, preferably in Mechanical Engineering
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with AutoCAD; Revit experience is an asset
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Willingness to work in both office and site settings
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence required
- Access to reliable transportation for travel to project sites
- Eligible to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous co-op, internship, or related experience in engineering or construction
- Familiarity with mechanical building systems and site review processes
- Experience preparing reports and technical documentation
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Information
- This position involves a combination of office work and travel to project sites
- The successful candidate must be able to travel to sites as required
- This role offers valuable exposure to design, field review, reporting, and project coordination
Ability to commute/relocate: Richmond Hill, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
