Position Summary The Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) uses their knowledge, skill and judgement in imaging technique and skill as well as radiation emitting equipment, together with an extensive knowledge of the principles of anatomy, physiology and pathology, image acquisition, treatment and radiation protection to deliver high quality care to their patients. The MRT ensures the care provided is safe, appropriate, tailored, timely, and maximizes the potential of the available equipment and resources. Education/Experience Diploma or Degree in Medical Radiation Sciences, Radiography from an accredited educational institution.

Registered in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) mandatory.

Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) membership recommended.

Member of Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS) recommended.

Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program.

Successful completion of IV contrast media injection course/experience highly recommended. Proven knowledge of ALARA and radiation safety. Responsibilities Performs all required General Radiography and CT examinations as prescribed by physicians in accordance with relevant protocols and procedures.

Maintain strong team environment amongst fellow Medical Radiation Technologists, Nursing tram, Radiologist and interdisciplinary teams.

Duties are conducted in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

Deliver high quality, safe and compassionate patient care.

Participates in quality improvement activities.

Communicates issues and concerns to the Manager.

Participates in monthly quality control practices.

Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures.

Assists in the orientation/preceptorship of new staff members and students.
