Position Summary:

About the Clinic:

The Lakeshore Community Nurse Practitioner - Led Clinic (NPLC) is a dynamic community-based interdisciplinary primary health care clinic providing comprehensive primary health care services to individuals and families residing in Lakeshore who are unattached to other primary care providers.

The NPLC is committed to providing access to innovative, integrated primary health care services and programs delivered collaboratively with a focus on healthy equity and patient centeredness. We are committed to working from within an anti-oppressive and anti-racist philosophical framework that is trauma-informed and which values cultural humility and inclusiveness.

About the Job The ideal candidate enjoys being a positive first point of contact for patients and visitors, has a high degree of computer and digital technology literacy and has great interpersonal/communication skills.

Key Areas of Responsibility and Duties:

- Answer calls using a digital switchboard with multiple incoming lines
- Interact with staff, patients and visitors in a positive and helpful manner at all times
- Work in PSSuites (electronic medical record) and Ocean to book appointments, post digital faxes to patient charts, conduct tasks delegated to you by clinicians, confirm patient appointments and use queries/searches to assist NP Lead with data analysis.
- Manage incoming and outgoing digital faxes
- Create and work within Word, Excel and Canva documents as required
- Office supply inventory and ordering

- Ensures adherence to the freedom of information act and PHIPA

Job Requirements

- Mandatory: at least one year experience as a receptionist at a medical or primary care clinic with a multi-line switchboard
- Mandatory: experience using electronic medical record software (PSSuites preferred)
- Mandatory: Experience creating documents and working in Word and Excel
- This is not a Francophone designated position, however, LCNPLC is working towards increasing Active Offer Francophone primary care services to the Lakeshore community. Please indicate if you can offer primary care services in French.
- Ability to learn new technology and procedures quickly
- Ability to deal with multiple requests, calls and prioritize work
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting. This position works closely with one other Medical Secretary, and supports all clinicians, and executive leaders
- A diploma or certificate in Office/Business Administration of Medical Secretary program is preferred
- Demonstrate a willingness to assist with the workload during vacation or absence of other administrative staff




- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures as per applicable legislation
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Lakeshore Community NPLC

Physical Demands

- Majority of time will be spent in direct administrative duties in the clinic
- The position requires minimal physical effort and the workday is comprised of mostly sitting at a desk working on a computer.
- Travel within the community may be requested

Schedule

- Exact schedule to be determined with the candidate. The three shift schedules are 8 am - 4 pm, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm and 10 am - 6 pm (required two days a week).
