Position #: 9000321 Expected Start Date: August 31, 2026 Union: SUN Facility: Emergence Medical Services - Regina City/Town: Regina Department: Medical Communication and Coordination Centre Type: Part-time regular FTE: 0.63 Shift Information: Days, Weekends and Stats Number of Hours per Rotation: 8 shifts of 11.78 hours per 4 weeks Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: Extended Shift Hours (11.78) Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Nurse A $38.580 to $50.070 Travel Required: No : The Medical Communication Centre Emergency Nurse is responsible for promoting the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Saskatchewan Health Authority through provision of safe and timely medical triage of lower acuity patients in need of care. The MCCC Emergency Nurse will function as a member of a collaborative,

inter-qualified team to appropriately triage, manage, and support caller access to health care services to meet their non-emergent, non-life-threatening health situations. The successful candidate will perform secondary telephone based medical triage of lower acuity 911 EMS calls, performing patient assessment, formulating referral plans, and assisting patients in arranging appropriate care using information and with the support of accredited evidence-based computer decision support software, clinical guidelines,

protocols, and other resources. The incumbent will use critical thinking,

therapeutic communication, and clinical decision-making skills to assess, plan,

implement, educate and evaluate the patients’ health situation and/or informational needs.

Human Resources Exemption: No Experience Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience in acute care Experience includes one (1) year Emergency nursing excperience in last 5 years Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) experience required Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in acute care within last 5 years Previous experience must include at least 1 year in Emergency nursing Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)



Graduate from an approved School of Nursing Other Education and Training Ability to obtain/maintain Emergency Communication Nurse System (ECNS) cert.

Nursing diploma is acceptable Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or other trauma assessment course desired Current ACLS and PALS desired – required to obtain within 1 year of start date.

Ability to obtain and maintain Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS) Competencies Intermediate - Negotiation skills Intermediate - Counseling skills Intermediate - Organizational skills Customer service Ability to work in a team environment Computer skills Intermediate - Interviewing skills Intermediate - Conflict resolution skills Intermediate - Time management skills Knowledge and Abilities Must understand and be able to function in a call-centre environment Has demonstrated strong critical thinking and analytical skills Promotes a robust inter-disciplinary team Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information Well developed written & verbal communications skills appropriate to the caller Ability to make timely and accurate decision making Minimum typing speed of 25 wpm Cultural awareness in required Ability to work with a variety of electronic information and manual resources Ability to work independently in a customer service oriented manner Strong assessment skills required to determine callers’ needs Ability to work collaboratively with other health care professionals Ability to apply evidence-based decision making Ability to competently use computers and software applications Ability to move back and forth between tasks and projects Must posses competent data collection skills Ability to multitask Other Information More than 5 years overall nursing experience considered an asset.

Scheduled hours of work may be reduced when a statutory holiday is recognized Experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation is an asset.

Experience in pre-hospital assessments or patient triage is an asset.
