Position: Recreation Aide
Location: 120 Skyview Ranch Drive NE, Calgary
Employee Status: Full Time (Tuesday to Saturday)
Reporting to: Recreation Therapist Lead
Date Available: Immediatley

Rate of Pay: To commensurate with qualifications and experience

Position Summary
Generations Calgary is currently looking for an energetic, motivated, and passionate individual to join our team as a Recreation Aide.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
· Leading, instructing, and motivating residents in individual and group leisure activities
· Preparing, implementing, and evaluating day-to-day recreation activities under the supervision of the Recreation Therapist Lead
· Ensuring that every resident is involved in identified recreational activities to meet the goals of the resident's recreational care plan
· Maintaining documentation of attendance and resident participation in recreation programs
· Participating in committees as required such as Quality Improvement, OHS, etc.
· Develops and maintains good relationships with the residents, coworkers, volunteers and families to deliver high quality recreation activities
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a Recreation Aide course from a recognized institution, or equivalent experience will be considered
· Minimum of 1 year’s work experience as a Recreation Aide · An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
· Knowledge of implementing a wide variety of recreation programs
· Experience working with geriatric population and those with dementia will be an asset
· Enthusiastic, creative and positive attitude
· Be able to respond effectively to a flexible, changing environment and effectively manage a variety of tasks and adjust priorities throughout the day
· Work independently and be an active part of the Recreation Team
· Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing
· Possess the applicable computer skills and knowledge of nursing-related care equipment utilization and management.
· Experience and skills working with MDS InterRai, and Point Click Care will be considered an asset
· Excellent skills in MS Office suite and electronic charting systems
