Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)

Paradigm Healthcare Services is seeking compassionate, dependable, and skilled Registered Practical Nurses to join our growing healthcare team.

Paradigm Healthcare Services provides a broad range of healthcare staffing and support services, including Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, Personal Support Workers, and Responsive Behaviour and Safety Workers. We support long-term care homes, retirement residences, community organizations, and private clients throughout the Niagara Region and other communities across Ontario.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Practical Nurse with Paradigm Healthcare Services, you will:

- Deliver safe, compassionate, and person-centred nursing care based on each resident’s assessed needs, preferences, and plan of care.
- Practise within the RPN scope of practice and in accordance with the standards, guidelines, and Code of Conduct of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Follow Paradigm Healthcare Services’ policies and procedures, as well as the policies and protocols of each partner facility.
- Complete nursing assessments and promptly recognize, document, report, and respond to changes in a resident’s health condition.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of individualized plans of care.
- Safely administer medications and treatments in accordance with prescriptions, organizational policies, and applicable professional standards.
- Demonstrate knowledge of wound care,



skin assessment, infection prevention and control, and medication management.
- Monitor residents’ health status, evaluate their responses to care, and communicate relevant findings to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Provide direction and appropriate delegation to members of the healthcare team, when required and within professional standards.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, families, physicians, management, and members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Promote residents’ dignity, independence, privacy, cultural preferences, comfort, and overall quality of life.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established reporting and escalation procedures.
- Complete accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation.
- Prepare and use clinical equipment safely and maintain a clean and organized care environment.
- Provide residents and families with appropriate education regarding care, treatment, safety, and wellness.
- Perform other nursing duties within the RPN scope of practice, as assigned.

Qualifications The successful candidate must have:

- Current registration in good standing as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Demonstrated ability to practise to the full RPN scope of practice.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of medication administration, wound care,



skin assessment, and infection prevention and control.
- Excellent verbal, written, documentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- A compassionate, dependable, and resident-focused approach to care.
- The ability to build trusting relationships with residents, families, and healthcare partners.
- Experience in long-term care, retirement living, community care, or another clinical environment is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of Registered Practical Nurse experience is preferred.
- The ability to satisfy all facility-specific onboarding, immunization, screening, and documentation requirements.

Position Details

Job types: Full-time, Part-time, and Casual

Location: Niagara Falls and surrounding communities

Work setting: In person

Shift length: 8- and 12-hour shifts

Availability may include:

- Days, evenings, and nights
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends
- Statutory holidays
