Job Overview

Position Summary The Retail Store Manager is responsible for the overall success of Pingle's Farm Market's retail operation by delivering an exceptional guest experience, maximizing sales, ensuring operational excellence and providing hands-on leadership and coaching.

The Retail Store Manager is expected to lead from the floor, coach and develop the team, greet guests, resolve issues, and support daily operations while ensuring every area of the market reflects the quality and hospitality Pingle's Farm is known for.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

● Lead, coach, mentor and inspire the retail team.

● Recruit, onboard and train new team members.

● Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and exceptional guest service.

● Conduct regular coaching conversations and performance reviews.

● Lead team meetings and daily communication.

● Ensure staff scheduling supports business needs while achieving labour targets.

● Approve time-off requests and manage team availability through 7Shifts.

● Develop ongoing training resources and operational procedures.

Guest Experience

● Champion an outstanding guest experience throughout the market(s)

● Be visible on the sales floor, greeting guests and assisting where needed.

● Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently.

● Ensure the market remains welcoming, clean, organized and fully stocked.

● Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements.

Financial Responsibilities

● Drive sales through merchandising, promotions and seasonal initiatives.





● Monitor sales performance and key performance indicators.

● Analyze reports and identify opportunities to improve profitability.

● Manage labor costs and scheduling efficiencies.

Merchandising & Visual Presentation

● Ensure attractive merchandising throughout the market and greenhouse.

● Maintain seasonal displays and promotional features.

● Coordinate signage, pricing and product presentation.

● Plan and execute seasonal themes that enhance the guest experience.

● Ensure displays remain fully stocked and visually appealing.

Inventory & Product Management

● Oversee inventory levels across the retail operation.

● Coordinate ordering for retail products while working collaboratively with department managers.

● Ensure proper receiving, storage and rotation of products (FIFO).

● Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies.

● Reduce waste through proper purchasing and inventory controls.

● Coordinate with the Farm Manager regarding fresh produce availability.

● Maintain organized coolers, freezers and storage areas.

Retail Operations

● Ensure all retail systems remain current including Square

● Maintain operational checklists and standard operating procedures.

● Ensure register information, PLU sheets and promotional signs remain current.

● Monitor store cleanliness and organization both inside and outside the building.

● Oversee opening and closing procedures.

● Coordinate sampling programs and vendor demonstrations.





● Maintain newsletter sign-up programs and support marketing initiatives.

Administration

● Review daily operational reports.

● Monitor inventory reports and ordering trends.

● Coordinate communication between departments.

● Ensure invoices and receiving documentation are accurate.

● Produce operational reports for senior leadership.

● Maintain retail policies and procedures.

Health & Safety

● Maintain a safe shopping and working environment.

● Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, health and safety policies, and company procedures.

● Monitor equipment and coordinate maintenance requirements.

● Ensure receiving and storage areas remain organized and hazard-free.

Qualifications

● 3–5+ years of progressive retail management experience.

● Experience leading teams in a high-volume retail or hospitality environment.

● Strong merchandising and inventory management skills.

● Excellent leadership, communication and coaching abilities.

● Experience with POS systems and retail reporting.

● Strong organizational and time-management skills.

● Comfortable working in a rapid-paced, seasonal business.

● Must be able to work weekends, holidays and peak seasonal periods.

Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
