Safety/Emergency/Accessibility (SEA) Coordinator The Rural Municipality of Grey invites applications for a Safety/Emergency/Accessibility (SEA)
Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
Safety Coordinator
Maintain and update the Safety and Health Policy
Provide leadership and strategic direction on the Safety and Health program
Continuously improve Safety and Health Program elements including safety training and orientation, safe work procedures, hazard analysis and regular inspections
Ensuring compliance with incident reporting, policy creation, enforcement and legislative requirements and communications
Collaborating with management and staff to adhere to our Safety and Health program and policies
Provide guidance and ownership of processes for the Safety Committee
Knowledge of the Safety and Health Act, Provincial Regulations and Workers Compensation
Board programs would be an asset
Emergency Coordinator
Preparation, maintenance, and testing of the regional Emergency Plan
Coordinating the response to emergencies in the region
Attracting, managing, training and motivating volunteers
During emergencies the Municipal Emergency Coordinator is required to be available for full workdays, including overtime, for as long as is required
Accessibility Coordinator
Oversee the Accessibility Plan and coordinate accessibility initiatives.
Coordinate the accessibility working group.
Provide expertise to colleagues and clients to ensure accessibility.
Include accessibility awareness in staff training and orientation.
Monitor progress in implementing the Accessibility Plan and track costs related to disability accommodations.
When new policies or programs are introduced, consider accessibility needs and provide advice on removing barriers.
Stay up to date on compliance requirements for new standards under the AMA as well as new technology and resources to help the organization maximize accessibility For all three aspects of the job, the successful candidate must:
o Solid and effective communication in English, both written and verbal, is a requirement for this role. French proficiency would be an asset.
o Be able to work with minimum supervision o Have excellent organizational and record keeping skills o Have a clear and valid driver’s license o Have access to a personal vehicle when a municipal vehicle is unavailable o Have computer experience especially Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint)
o Be willing to participate in courses/training for all three areas of the position
This position is unionized. Base working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunchbreak. Wage starts at $26.58/hr. Comprehensive Pension and Benefit package is provided.
