Introduction to computer-assisted drug design.
Course topics include: intermolecular interactions, conformational analysis, molecular mechanics, molecular dynamics, docking, pharmacophores, protein modeling, QSAR, and cheminformatics. Course includes lectures and a weekly computer laboratory component.Prerequisite: CHEM 3523 or permission of the instructorA postgraduate degree in Chemistry or a related discipline (PhD preferred), including experience with computational chemistry, molecular modelling, physical organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry.
Experience teaching undergraduate chemistry preferred. Prior experience with molecular modelling software is required.
Experience with use of a learning management system would be an asset.This combined lecture/lab course will be co-taught (50%) with a full-time faculty member, with the CAI responsible for preparation and delivery of the three lectures per week, MWF 11:30-12:20, and the full time faculty member responsible for the laboratory sections, F 14:30-17:20 and W 18:30-21:20. The two instructors will coordinate the course components and plan and deliver jointly the tests and exams.Apply by email to
