Your Next Challenge
As the Senior Communications Specialist you will support the planning and execution of government relations and stakeholder engagement activities across the Ontario Region, with a focus on municipal engagement within Agnico Eagle’s communities of interest and targeted coordination with provincial representatives. Working closely with the Manager, Communications,
in this role you will support structured engagement with government stakeholders by contributing to briefing materials, stakeholder strategies, and policy awareness. You will ensure that interactions with municipal and provincial partners are informed, consistent, and aligned with regional and corporate priorities.
Your role plays a key supporting function in advancing regional advocacy efforts by connecting stakeholder insights, policy developments, and communications. You will support the Ontario Region’s ability to engage effectively with government stakeholders in ways that reflect operational priorities and community context. Coordinate municipal engagement across communities of interest, including meeting coordination, briefing materials preparation, and ongoing relationship support;
Support targeted provincial engagement by preparing materials, tracking ministry priorities, and contributing to stakeholder strategies aligned with regional priorities;
Monitor and analyze policy developments, regional issues, and stakeholder dynamics, providing insights to support engagement planning and decision making;
Develop briefing notes, backgrounders,
and supporting materials for leadership in advance of government and stakeholder interactions;
Maintain awareness of emerging issues and sensitivities, ensuring appropriate escalation of matters that may impact stakeholder relationships or organizational positioning.
What You Need To Succeed
Post-Secondary Diploma in a related program;
5-7 years experience working in a similar role;
English proficiency for written and oral communications;
Ability to develop clear, concise briefing materials;
Strong organizational and analytical skills;
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment;
Sound judgment and ability to manage sensitive information;
Relationship-building and stakeholder awareness;
Strategic thinking and problem-solving;
Discretion and professionalism;
Solid organizational skills;
Experience in communications, government relations, public affairs, or policy environments;
Familiarity with municipal and provincial government processes;
Experience in mining, industrial, or resource sectors;
Understanding of Indigenous engagement and community dynamics is preferred.
Your Work Schedule Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday at our Timmins Regional Office. Consideration may also be given to candidates located in other Northern Ontario communities, or at out Toronto Head Office;
Occasional travel to sites and communities across Ontario;
Participation in meetings with external stakeholders, including municipal and provincial representatives.
