Job Title: Data Engineer

Location: Surrey, British Columbia

Job Type: 12 Months Contract

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Build, optimize, and manage data warehouses and data lakes.
- Integrate data from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, and cloud platforms.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, accuracy, and integrity through validation, testing, and monitoring.
- Optimize database performance, query execution, and storage efficiency.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineering teams to deliver clean, structured datasets.
- Implement data governance, security, privacy, and compliance best practices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data pipeline failures and performance issues.
- Automate data ingestion and processing workflows using orchestration tools.
- Document data architecture, pipeline designs, and operational processes.

Required Skills

- Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database management.
- Programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala.




- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and data integration frameworks.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of big data technologies, including Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka.
- Experience with modern data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Google BigQuery.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, database design, and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
- Robust analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Knowledge of containerization and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD) is an advantage.
- Relevant cloud or data engineering certifications are a plus.
