Strum Consulting, is presently expanding our Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Division and has an opening in our Halifax office for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities: Technical Leadership & Design

Lead and oversee electrical building-system designs, including power distribution, lighting, emergency and standby power, controls, communications and life-safety systems.

Develop and review service calculations, single-line diagrams, risers, layouts, specifications and design details.

Provide senior technical review, quality assurance and code-compliance oversight, and seal engineering documents when required.

Support the continued development of design standards, templates, tools and efficient delivery practices. Project & Client Management

Manage a portfolio of projects from proposal and concept design through tendering and construction administration.

Establish and manage scope, fees, budgets, schedules, staffing plans, risks and deliverables.

Lead client and design-team meetings and provide clear, practical advice to owners, architects and contractors.

Oversee tender support, RFIs, shop-drawing reviews, site visits, inspections and coordination with utilities and authorities. Team Leadership & Growth

Help manage team workload, priorities and resource allocation across active projects.

Mentor and support engineers, EITs, designers and technologists through delegation, coaching and technical review.

Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, career development and performance feedback as the team grows.





Promote a collaborative, accountable and solutions-focused team culture.

Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat and expanded work.

Support proposals, fee development, interviews and pursuit strategy in collaboration with senior leadership.

Represent Strum professionally in the local building-design and development community. Safety

Follow and actively support Strum’s health and safety program, procedures and continuous-improvement initiatives. What you bring to Strum:

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be a senior technical and project leader within our Mechanical & Electrical group. You will balance hands-on engineering and quality review with project oversight, resource coordination, mentorship, client management and business development. Working closely with Strum leadership, you will help ensure the team continues to deliver practical, high-quality work while creating an environment where people can develop and succeed.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.

Professional Engineer licensed with, or eligible for registration by, Engineers Nova Scotia.

A minimum of 8 years of electrical engineering consulting experience focused on building systems.

Demonstrated experience leading complex projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing client relationships.

Experience supervising, mentoring or coordinating the work of engineers and technical staff; formal people-management experience is an asset.

Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, National Building Code and applicable utility and authority requirements.

Experience with multi-unit residential, commercial, institutional and/or industrial buildings.

Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD,



AGi32 and common engineering calculation and documentation tools.

Sound commercial judgment, including the ability to develop fees, manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, professional judgment and a practical, collaborative approach.

A genuine interest in developing people, improving how work is delivered and helping grow an established team.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

A valid Nova Scotia Drivers License is preferred.
