Backend Software Developer (Contract)

Location: Montreal or Longueuil, QC

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Duration: August 17, 2026 – December 31, 2026 (Approx. 4.5 months)

About the Role

Seeking an experienced Backend Software Developer to join its Bike Share engineering team on a contract basis. In this role, you'll help build scalable backend services that power one of the world's leading bike-share platforms across 40+ markets. You'll collaborate with engineering, product, and account management teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software that enhances urban mobility.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Python.
- Build and implement new customer-facing features based on business requirements.
- Integrate existing systems with up-to-date cloud-native components.
- Translate product requirements into technical solutions and implementation plans.
- Maintain and enhance existing backend applications for performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management and Technical Account Managers.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and scalable code.

Required Qualifications

- 3+ years of backend software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Python.
- Experience with MySQL or other relational databases (RDBMS).
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog,



Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or New Relic.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with distributed systems or large-scale applications.
- Experience building SaaS platforms.
- French-speaking candidates are strongly preferred but not required.

Interview Process

- Round 1: 30-minute experience interview
- Round 2: 60-minute technical interview
